Great information…Looking forward to using this technique with my son…Thx

  2. Rob

Stuff we all know, but what a great way of presenting it.
Any sports coach or athlete would buy in to that immediately and listen intently.
    That’s coaching. Great job.

    Dave,
Good stuff. Sorry I couldn’t catch up with you in Louisville this year, but looking forward to getting some additional insights on what you’re teaching. Could use some help on how to progress the kid who just went through the growth spurt and is tight as a drum. Have several in a PE class I teach and they also are not ready for any quick response change of direction work.

  4. That closed door session was awesome. Dave and Latif are brilliant coaches. The stuff I learned during that session translated to teaching other skills as well. I’m so glad I made the trip this year.

Outstanding Dave, as athletic director of a middle school that’s the kind of information i need to help make my athletes move better. It’s nice to see you and Latif working together. I’m looking forward to learning more from two outstanding coaches.

  10. Dave, those were some great coaching points. So many young athletes have inefficient movement patterns. I believe more of this is needed at the youth level to create not only more efficient movement but also to help minimize injuries. Keep training strong Dave…

  11. Love it! Only master teachers give us breadth, depth and application. Thank you and all the best!

I’ve always looked for good speed and agility teachers, group classes, programs on DVD, and I’ll admit I’ve tried some gimmicks (plyoshoes). At first out of necessity, my son and his teamates had severe growthplate heel soreness and while some parents were seeking ortho specialist which resulted in boots to sleep in and massive doses of advil, I found the best track coach I could find, paid for 1-1 instruction and his pain went away. He got fast. The awesome track coach got too busy. Later as techique regessed i Tried group lessons, but VSP wants to put him thru a workout, not teach speed, not instruct on running form. Costly. I found a great teacher of speed/agility. He worked with NFL receivers but he started specializing in soccer speed. So I’m at a crossroads again. Limited time, son plays two sports. What to so? I’m looking at “truth about quickness2.0″ and “groundbreaking 2″ (by Taft ). But I know that Do-it-Yourself speed instruction can be a waste of time. By the way those kids in boots didn’t even make middle school teams. They are done. TOAST!! Left behind. So, I’m serious about “feeling the need for speed”. Please help.

  15. Dave,

Great content, just showing how awesome the IYCA Speed and Agility Certification Content must be. Dissociation is something I first learned when I was taught how to improve my power in the golf swing. Turns out learning how to do that has made me a much more complete athlete in all sports. Now I teach that to all of my athletes, at any level, and doing drills like the one you provided above makes them wide eyed and excited! Great post!

Great video! How do i forward this to my football and volleyball coaches?

  17. Laquisha

hey man great video. ive tried several speed and agility exercises bought just about everything skils has to offer and even did 6 week training my son is in 7th grade he made the team because he hustles but speed hasnt increased please help im running out of time and money but will do whatever it takes to get him better. Was looking at taq 2.0 from alex moroko but just hesitant about another bad investment… Have also heard that training central nervous system to move faster will increase speed ?????????????

  20. Darren

Excellent information for all levels of athletes. Some more naturally athletic kids can do this and they don”t know why, and the less athletic athletes can learn this and put it to good use to become a better athlete. In both instances they are learning some very valuable information. Thanks.

  21. Dave

Great stuff !! Need more !!!!

  22. Galen

Is there going to be an alternative method of obtaining this info? I only have access to slow dial up.

  23. David Duarte

Thanks for sharing all the coaching techniques with the rest of the world. Keep doing what your doing. If a have some ideas can I share them with you?

  24. Superb info.—the degree of execution is dependent on a foundation of great(er) conditioning and an understanding of the mechanics and why there is a practical application in sports…

  25. Travis

    Excellent info.

  26. peter

Basic skill that few do and fewer kids. It will be a skill at the top of my classes. Thanks

  27. Matthew McGuire

This skill will help my girl lacrosse players play better defense!

  28. Awesome Stuff! Great delivery.

Hi guys. What has happened to the previous Speed and Agility Cert with Lee Taft. Is it still valid. Is Lee Taft a part of the new Cert.
    Cheers.
